6 Days Wildlife in Murchison Falls and Kidepo National Parks

This 6 day Murchison falls and Kidepo national park takes you to Uganda’s most visited national park(Murchison falls NP) and to the true African wilderness (Kidepo NP) where you will encounter the best of your safari with the big 5.  After visiting Murchison falls as one of the world’s strongest waterfalls and viewing many animals on the game drive, you will be introduced to Kidepo national park which is located in the valley. This safari basically will introduce you to most of the wildlife in Uganda/ Africa.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Arrival

You will be picked up from the airport the day before the trip (or hotel)

DAY 1:  TRANSFER TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

After an early breakfast, your Safari guide will pick you up at your Kampala hotel and you will begin the journey to Murchison Falls National Park.  You will proceed directly to the Top of the Falls, where you will enjoy your packed lunch while watching the largest collection of Hippos in East Africa.  Afterwards, you will take a guided walk around the thunderous Murchison Falls and an optional mini-hike to view the sister falls, Uhuru.  

By early afternoon, you will then proceed to your accommodation; after settling in and having a rest, you will then go for an evening Game Drive into the park, followed by an early dinner at the lodge.

DAY 2:  GAME DRIVE, BOAT CRUISE AND SECOND GAME DRIVE

After an early morning breakfast, your Safari guide will take you on the ferry to the North Bank for a Game Drive around the Buligi game tracks, which stretch between the Victoria and Albert Niles, down to the Nile River-Lake Albert Delta.  This is the spot where most of the game and birds in the park can be viewed.

Your Safari guide will then take you back to your lodge for lunch.  In the afternoon you will depart for a 3-hour boat cruise along the Victoria Nile to the base of thefalls.  In addition to the breathtaking scenery, you will be able to observe a wide variety of birds and wildlife along the way.

You will return to your accommodation for a short rest and dinner, followed by an optional evening Game Drive.

DAY 3:  TRANSFER TO KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK

After an early morning breakfast, youwill transfer to Kidepo valley national park from Murchison falls national park.

Lunch will be taken in Kitgum, a few hours’ drive from the gates of Kidepo Valley National Park.  The amazing scenery between Kitgum and the Park will keep everyone entertained on the journey. You will go directly to your accommodation, have a bit of a rest after the long trip and then enjoy dinner overlooking the gorgeous vistas of the Narus Valley of Kidepo.

DAY 4:  GAME DRIVE AND CULTURAL ENCOUNTER WITH THE KARAMAJONG

You will have some fruit and a cup of tea or coffee before dawn, and head out for an early morning Game Drive.  This is the best time of the day to see the predators at work as they are out hunting in the wee hours of the day.  After your Game Drive, your guide will take you back to the lodge for breakfast.

You will then be taken to a local Karamajong settlement nearby to engage with the local people of the area.  The tribes-people will open up their homes for you to have a look and will entertain you with local dances and music.  Afterwards you will return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, after a bit of a rest, your Safari guide will take you on an afternoon Game Drive to the Kidepo Valley to the north.  Here you will encounter different Game from the Narus Valley you viewed earlier in the day.  After your Game Drive, you will return to your lodge for dinner.

DAY 5:  GAME DRIVE AND JOURNEY TO SIPI FALLS/ELGON MOUNTAIN

After an early morning breakfast, you will be taken on a final Game Drive in Kidepo Valley National Park, on your way out of the Park towards Mbale, to view the Sipi Falls and Mount Elgon.

Lunch will be taken en route in a local restaurant so you can experience some of the Ugandan foods that people prepare from the local produce grown.

Immediately you arrive in Sipi Falls, you will go to your accommodation for a short rest before taking dinner.

DAY 6:  SIPI FALLS AND RETURN TO KAMPALA VIA JINJA

After breakfast, your Safari guide will take you on a walking tour of Sipi Falls and the beautiful gardens in the area.  Afterwards you will begin the journey back to Kampala.

Lunch will be taken en route in another local restaurant en route.

If time permits, you will be able to stop in Jinja on the return journey to view the Source of the Nile River/ Arrival back in your hotel in Kampala by early evening, in time for dinner.
